If you are near Greenwich village, you gotta check out Sotc. This Yunnan spot is legit. The dishes look amazing , but they taste even better. They've got so many noodles soup to choose from, but the Yunnan Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles with tender beef is so good. The Dai-style stir fried beef is so flavorful with a slightly spicy. And you gotta try their Steamed Pot Chicken Soup. They made it fresh daily , simmer for long time to ensure the rich and authentic flavors . Highly recommended especially the winter season is coming soon. all of the food was incredibly flavorful, even the traditionally more milder dishes were still packed with flavor. the interior was beautifully decorated and the staff very lovingly decorated the restaurant with halloween decorations for this season. we loved the yunnan fried tofu with the super soft interior and perfectly fried outside, the best texture combination in our opinions. the deep fried short ribs had so much flavor and paired perfectly with the lime. the highlight of the meal, the yunnan signature crossing bridge had some of the most tender meat along with the soothing soup that was much needed on a cold day. the portions were pretty big and the food was filling.

South of the Clouds is hands down one of the best noodle spots in the city, especially for spice lovers like me! The soup is nothing short of rich, savory, and utterly comforting, making it an ideal dish during the cold season. Their menu doesn't just stop at traditional, authentic Yunnan-style noodle dishes. They take the authenticity a step further by offering a variety of drinks that complement the meal perfectly, from refreshing teas to flavorful broths. The attention to detail in every dish and drink makes the experience feel so thoughtful and special. The cozy atmosphere, coupled with the delicious food, makes South of the Clouds a true hidden gem in the city. I always leave feeling satisfied and already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend!

I never had Yunnan food before and this was a lovely first time! The Signature Yunnan Crossing Bridge is a must-order dish. It is their popular noodle soup dish which comes with so many different toppings including proteins like chicken, pork, beef, and fish. The soup is hot and heartwarming and the noodles are thin and slippery. The stir fried noodles were also really good. We added minced pork to it and it made it even more flavorful. The rice was good, but we definitely liked the noodles more. I would also recommend ordering the beef dish. It's spicy but so tender. The servers were awesome and the inside is spacious and pretty. It feels like sitting inside of a Chinese temple!

The other day I saw the recommendations on Xaiohongshu and I happened to run into the restaurant this I decided to try. The portion is big. Quite decent place. The taste is similar to what I tired when traveling in China

To order and I pay I was able to do so from my phone which was really easy! The two soup noodles and fried tofu we got came out quickly. Overall very large portions. The tofu was fried with a light crispy coating and came with a fermented tofu dipping sauce which had a great umami flavor! The noodles had very rich and flavorful broths and was packed meat and veg. We came on a Sunday midafternoon and were seated right away

Quite tasty and really huge serving. As I ate, it felt like the bowl was generating more and more food. I got the beef noodle and it was great! The service at this place is a little disorganized. We tried adding a few items after the initial order and had to pull the waiter aside a few times to ensure that the order actually got fulfilled. The waiter serving us that day also only spoke Chinese. Overall, the restaurant looks decent and would be a good place to catch up with friends.
